1. About This Policy

Strattegee: Insurgency at play.strattegee.com is operated by Strattegee Pty Ltd (ABN 74 667 291 965) of 1330 Malvern Road, Malvern VIC 3144 ("we", "us" or "our").

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information in connection with Strattegee. It applies to guests, registered account holders, and Premium subscribers alike.

We've written this policy in the style of an Australian Privacy Principles (APP) privacy policy as a matter of good practice, whether or not Strattegee currently falls within the Privacy Act 1988's small business exemption.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use Strattegee, we may collect:

Account information: username, email address, password (stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text), display name, bio, country and avatar;
Gameplay information: game history, results, rating, career XP and rank, Community and Tournament participation, and in-game chat messages;
Billing information: whether you have an active Premium subscription, your plan and renewal date. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe's checkout and never pass through or get stored on our own servers;
Support communications: anything you send us at info@strattegee.com, such as a support request or refund request;
Technical information: your session token (see section 6), IP address, and basic request logs used to keep the service secure and reliable.

3. How We Collect Information

Most information is collected directly from you, when you register, edit your profile, play a game, join or create a Community, or contact support. Some technical information (like IP address and request logs) is collected automatically as part of running the service.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

Create and operate your account, and let you play games, Tournaments and use Communities;
Calculate matchmaking, ratings, rank and leaderboards;
Process Premium subscription payments and manage your billing status, via Stripe;
Send you transactional emails (e.g. password resets, turn reminders), via Resend;
Respond to support and refund requests;
Maintain the security of the service and investigate suspected abuse or breaches of our Terms of Service;
Comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

5. Disclosure to Third Parties and Overseas Recipients

We disclose limited personal information to the following service providers, who process it on our behalf:

Stripe, Inc. - to process Premium subscription payments (based in the United States);
Resend - to deliver transactional emails such as password resets and turn reminders (based in the United States);
Our hosting provider - to run the Strattegee servers and database.

This means your information is likely to be disclosed to recipients located overseas, principally in the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers handle personal information consistently with this policy.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

Strattegee stores your login session token in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in between visits. We don't currently use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information, including hashing passwords, encrypting traffic to and from the site (HTTPS), and never storing full card numbers on our own systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping, dispute resolution, and legal compliance (for example, billing records). If you close your account, we will delete or de-identify personal information that we no longer need to keep, subject to those requirements.

9. Children's Privacy

Strattegee is intended for users aged 13 and over (see our Terms of Service). We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at info@strattegee.com and we will delete it.

10. Access, Correction and Deletion of Your Information

You can view and update most of your account information (display name, bio, country, avatar) directly from your Profile page at any time. To request a copy of other personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated data, email info@strattegee.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first.

11. Automated Decision-Making

Strattegee automatically calculates things like your rating, rank and leaderboard position based on your game results, and matches you against AI or human opponents. These are transparent, formulaic calculations rather than automated decisions that significantly affect your legal rights or similarly significant interests. We'll update this section if that changes.

12. How to Complain

If you're concerned about how we've handled your personal information, contact us first at info@strattegee.com and we'll do our best to resolve it. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Strattegee or applicable law. The current version will always be available at a clearly accessible location on the Strattegee website, with its effective date.
